Kumquat Trees - And Their Many Uses
Kumquat Trees are a Garden Staple
I have one kumquat tree that blesses me a few times a year with an abundance of bright orange fruit, surrounded by thin green leaves on delicate branches. It’s everything I can ask for when needing a pop of color for a flower arrangement, an accouterment for a cheese board, or a sprig to add a little interest to my gift wrapping.
The beauty of the kumquat is the bright color and almost translucent skin. You can easily pluck them to have the desired amount of fruit for your decorating needs. Of course, you can eat them too?
“The flesh of kumquats is particularly strong and sour, however the skin is usually sweet in comparison, and for this reason, it is common for the flesh and skin, or ‘peel’ as it is often called, to be eaten together.”

When In Doubt, Add a Kumquat Sprig
In my opinion, there’s no better color combination than blue and orange. Kumquat cuttings in a Delft vase add color and interest for weeks. - just add water.
Blue and orange are natural companions. An old Delft vase gets a ray of sunshine with some kumquat sprigs.
