Wedding Color Schemes
It’s always exciting when a couple gets engaged, and the planning wheels start spinning. Aside from my own wedding 30 plus years ago much dominated by my mother’s wishes, I had the privilege of helping my daughter plan her wedding. I sincerely believe that it was a joy to watch a creative young lady put her heart and soul into the most important day of her life, and it all started with a color scheme.
The venue chosen by the couple was a historic Los Angeles estate, high on a hill with views to the ocean. It fit perfectly with who they were. Next came the creative hammering out of the correct vibe of the wedding. A “Dusty Sunset” color theme called and drew on the gorgeous sinking sunsets of the venue and tones that all married together.
Of course, the wedding party has to dress for the occasion. It’s a trending idea to have a range of colors and styles of dress to help with the skin tones and figures of the bridesmaids. That way, the ladies can have their spin on style and possibly wear the dress on another occasion.
Food and table setting plays a significant role in keeping with the theme. A good caterer will work with you to see where color can come into play. Garnishes and food stations are easy ways to add a pop of colors to the scheme. Flowers and table settings are where your colors can shine. From linens to glassware to the furniture itself, all help in building the palette. Flowers usually take center stage, so this is where those colors can shine. My suggestion is not to trim your budget here, as the flowers and the table settings will be in many pictures. Rental companies have a great variety of choices, and don’t be disappointed if you have to use more than one company - my daughter had three.
