Style Icon - Cristina Lynch of Mi Golondrina

Cristina Lynch’s blends her heritage with modern style

One of my style icons is Cristina Lynch, who founded Mi Golondrina in 2013. Inspired by her Mexican heritage and a desire to "bridge the gap between the modern women's wardrobe and the traditions of Mexico," she produces handmade embroidered dresses, skirts, and tops that are bright, fun, and uniquely authentic.

Born and raised in Dallas, Lynch grew up in a household that enjoyed a rich Mexican culture and appreciated Mexican art. She went to college in New York and worked in fashion before launching her flagship store in Dallas. The collection is also sold online and in many pop-ups.

There’s nothing ordinary about Cristina Lynch’s sense of style.

The Olivia blouse is one of their best-sellers. The ruffled sleeve, high neck, and bodice embroidery are perfect to wear with white jeans.

Empowering female artisans

Her quest to empower women is what makes this brand stand out. Lynch says, "I wanted to continue telling the story of Mexican art by preserving the traditions of hand-embroidery and empowering artisans throughout Mexico. Every Mi Golondrina garment is born in the small villages of Mexico, hand-stitched by skilled artisans who have been using these methods for over 200 years."

Today, Mi Golondrina partners with over 600 artisans in Mexico to create unique, handmade pieces representing Mexico's designs and culture. In partnering with independent artisans, the hand-stitched embroidery work provides sustainable income for women who can work in the home while caring for their families. As a company, Mi Golondrina is committed to empowering female artisans.

You Guessed It, Another Sub Header

When I think I already have a favorite dress style from Mi Golondrina's staples, Lynch comes up with something new. She does not spare detail to the soft 100% cotton fabric in stripes, checks, florals, and solids to the unique embroidery to the subtle detail of the satin ribbon hem. I love the dresses for their wearability. I can put on a midi Soledad with sandals and shop all day, add booties and a shawl, and I'm ready for a summer evening out. They even have a children's line and hair accessories. I hope you have a chance to check out the style icon that I love, Mi Golondrina. Wouldn’t a dress or a blouse from here make a lovely Mother’s Day gift?
