A TV Series Worth Binge Watching
I know all the most talked about TV series that everyone is binge-watching while at home during COVID-19 quarantine like Tiger King and Ozark, but I’d like to recommend one that will leave your heart light and you can actually watch with the entire family. It’s called Anne with an E.
Set in the late 19th century on Prince Edward Island, north of Nova Scotia, young Anne, a 13-year-old orphan, is mistakenly sent to live with aging siblings. Although based on the 1908 Canadian novel Anne of Green Gables, the storylines are unique and freshly written by Emmy Award-winning writer and producer Moira Walley-Beckett. The stars Amybeth McNulty as Anne Shirley, Geraldine James as Marilla Cuthbert, and R. H. Thomson as Matthew Cuthbert show us how they coexist and face the ups and downs of life on a rural farm. The chemistry between these actors works and the viewer leaves after every episode with a feeling of pure joy.
The series premiered on March 19, 2017, on CBC and on May 12 internationally. It was renewed for a second season on August 3, 2017, and for a third season in August 2018. Shortly after the third season was released in Fall 2019, CBC and Netflix announced that the series was canceled. There is still time to watch this amazing series on Netflix.
